Nutri
Nutri© is an AI-based clinical decision support system (CDSS) to help primary care providers (PCPs) collaboratively set data-driven, personalized nutrition goals with patients.
Background
NutriĀ© is an AI-based clinical decision support system (CDSS) to help primary care providers (PCPs) collaboratively set data-driven, personalized nutrition goals with patients. Nutri addresses barriers to diet counseling by gathering and analyzing patient diet data in alignment with the evidenced-based Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Nutri first gathers patient diet data via ASA24, the National Cancer Instituteās (NCI) validated, self-administered 24-hour dietary recall tool. This dietary intake data is processed alongside patient demographic data to personalize diet goals based on MyPlate. (i.e., Make ½ my plate fruits and vegetables.)

My Role
Under the mentorship of Dr. Marissa Burgermaster and her graduate students, I have worked on coding Nutriās the rule-based inference engine. My work has served as the basis of the algorithm that converts the quantitative data from the patient dietary recall into high-impact behavioral goals to improve chronic disease management. In Summer 2022, our team is launching a Nutri pilot trial at a federally qualified healthcare clinic. Nutri is also being considered for commercialization by the University of Texas at Austin.

Technical Details
The code for the rules engine is all written in Python using the Pandas library for analysis. I am currently working on the following improvements:
Dependency injection for a more dynamic application
Precedence list for goal prioritization
āAlertsā for nutritional nuances within the rules engine
